ELMSETT, SUFFOLK 

The property owners of this large detached address in Rural Suffolk provided a brief that included a significant ground floor side addition and a two-story extension to the house. 

 

Consideration was given to creating additional space while achieving a different appearance from the main property. Large elements of glazing were included in the south and south easterly aspects of the extension to provide natural light and a link to the external garden areas. 

 

The use of natural slate for the new roof, along with horizontal cladding on the ground floor elevations, helped differentiate the new space while complementing the existing dwelling.
