OAKLANDS- CONSTITUTION HILL, IPSWICH
Our clients envisioned preserving the original charm of their family home while expanding the living and entertaining spaces.
The project's objective was to enlarge the living space on both the ground and first floors while maintaining the conceptual appearance of the street elevation. Architecture ONE accomplished this by implementing a central roof lift to the first floor, relocating the staircase, and comprehensively reorganising internal space.
Key elements of the project include introducing natural light through glazing in the kitchen dining area 'link' and newly created bedrooms on the first floor, incorporating additional ridge glazing and large dormers to the front street elevation. This design choice contributes to an open and spacious feel throughout the property.
A contemporary architectural reinterpretation of external materials and fenestration was achieved by altering the colour of the mixed brick facade and providing bespoke glazing. These modifications enhance the modern aesthetic while staying true to the original concept.
